A Nice Couples Shoot to Start off the Summer

I did a shoot with a good friend and his long time girlfriend back on the 4th of may and was so excited about the results I figure I have to post them here.

We met up at a really cool location that is out Indian Trail road on the north side of Spokane. Good timing had us shooting with some very cool flare and helped bring in the rural/nostalgic feel that we were going for

It is always more fun to work with good subjects and these two were killing it. Working with two people who's feelings for each other are genuine is really a treat and is a great reminder of why I love doing this so much.

Second coming of "Flour People"

The top images are from a very short series that I photographed in 2011. Flour People is the stand in title of this body of work due to flour's actual use in the series. I am quite excited to be adding to these images within the next couple of weeks. My hope is to bring in around 25 subjects to photograph causing the unifying element to strengthen. the bottom image was a dry run using some new equipment i have come into. Stay tuned there is more to come in this group of work and it will be worth checking in for.

Back In The Saddle

It has been a while since i have done any photographing. I decided to break out and crawl out of my little hole. I got together for a few minutes with one of my good friends/favorite models and felt my way through some basic portrait shots. Here are a couple of the shots.

Cityscapes in Less Than "Prime" Light

Here are some images I captured today while wandering with two of my peers. The light was past its prime for my usual "hardscape" fare so I began looking for different ways to approach what I was looking at. my thought process ended up being something along the lines of: emphasize the shape and dark feel of the places I was occupying by being more concerned about the tonality of the sky and the just the shape of the buildings. Basically,  I decided to emphasize the shapes in the composition by severely back lighting. I feel as though I was greatly successful in my intent.

Hardscape

I saw this as I came back from lunch while I was at work. I quickly grabbed my camera and jumped the fence that separates our two buildings and shot this image. The shadows were perfect when I shot this and created a great sense of flow and a bit of tension due to the shadows being just short of touching the next window. It is kind of fun that you can only see the triangular shapes of the window shades in the shadows. This shot was definitely worth the rip in my jeans from when I hopped back over the fence. I am very happy with this addition to my "Hardscapes" series.

Abstraction

This is just exercise in seeing composition anywhere. All of these images were taken in about ten minutes from my bed. I thought I would show what I came up with.
